★Environmental education green picture book‧Shortlisted works for the French Ecological Children's Book Award★
Written by the famous French picture book writer Max Duco,
the highly imaginative story contains profound natural meanings,
showing that modern society and the natural environment coexist, but are not necessarily compatible. Dilemma,
but it also depicts the beautiful relationship between human beings and nature.

Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived by a pond.
He took good care of the pond year after year.
The pond was like an old friend he had known for many years.
One day, the landowner came to the pond and asked the old man to move out the next day.
Because this land will be converted into a parking lot.
The old man asked: "But what to do with the pond?"
The landowner smiled and said, "You can take it away!"
So the old man slowly rolled up the pond...

About the author
Max Ducos is
a well-known French picture book writer. He published his first children's picture book "Morning Glory Treasure Hunt" in 2006 and successfully became famous. In 2010, he came to Taiwan to participate in the Taipei International Book Fair. He used his rich experience in children's art guidance to create a number of children's books that are deeply loved by children. Marx. The biggest feature of Duco's drawings is his attention to detail. The pictures are vivid and childlike, making people look at the pictures as if they are reading a story. He is good at using space to create story tension. At the same time, he leads young readers into the world of art and culture with his unique storytelling method. "Once Upon a Time There Was a Pond" is different from Duco's past works that are colorful, intricately detailed, and have a large amount of text. In this book, he uses the contrast of color and black-and-white images and the use of space and screen switching to present the story. It presents the dilemma of modern society and nature, simplicity and sophistication, indifference and enthusiasm coexisting but not necessarily being compatible. At the same time, with his unique perspective, he leads young readers into imaginative stories and appreciates the profound philosophy of life and natural meaning while reading.

Max Ducos
