The book, designed for children 4 to 8, spreads a message of peace. One soldier in a hole shoots another in a hole on the next page imagining all sorts of horrible things the enemy would inflict on him, until one night, he crawled over without knowing what or who "another soldier" is. But once the first soldier gets to the other hole one starry night, what he discovered was that "the enemy" was just someone just like him.
